Cedar Cladding Supplier near Welshpool, Powys — Supplying Mid-Wales and Beyond

The Cedar Mill is a hand-operated sawmill located just outside Welshpool in Powys. We mill Western Red Cedar on-site, which means every board is cut to order and inspected before it leaves us. Whether you're a self-builder in Shropshire, an architect in Cardiff, or a contractor anywhere in the UK, we can supply cladding direct from the mill with nationwide delivery.

Cedar is naturally resistant to rot, insects, and moisture — making it ideal for the wet Welsh climate. It's lightweight, dimensionally stable, and weathers beautifully to a silver-grey if left untreated, or can be finished with oil or stain to retain its warm tones.

We currently offer three cladding profiles:

  • Shiplap — a clean, overlapping profile popular on garden rooms and extensions
  • Tongue & Groove — a smooth, flush finish for contemporary builds
  • Loglap — a bold, rounded profile that recreates the look of traditional log construction

Does Western Red Cedar need treatment?
No — Western Red Cedar is naturally durable and can be left completely untreated. Over time it weathers to a soft silver-grey patina. Many customers choose to oil or stain it to maintain the original warm colour for longer.
Is cedar cladding suitable for the UK climate?
Yes — Western Red Cedar performs exceptionally well in wet and variable climates. Its natural oils give it outstanding resistance to moisture and decay, making it one of the best choices for British external cladding applications.
Can you supply custom sizes or profiles?
Yes — we can machine custom sizes and profiles depending on your project requirements. We also offer waney edge cladding and large-volume supply for commercial and architectural projects. Get in touch to discuss your needs.
Do you offer nationwide delivery?
Yes — we supply cedar cladding throughout the UK. Collection from our Welshpool mill in Mid-Wales is also available depending on order size and preparation times.
How much cladding do I need for my project?
Get in touch with your approximate wall area in m² and we'll work out the right quantity for you — accounting for profile overlap, wastage, and any openings. We'd rather you ordered exactly the right amount than too much or too little.
